Antigua Travel – The Island
At the very heart of the Caribbean, Antigua is an unspoilt 108 sq miles and, together with Barbuda, is part of the Leeward Islands - famous for its beautiful unspoiled coastline & courteous people. Antigua has 365 beaches each one, whether sited in a shimmering tiny cove, or along an open expanse ideal for water skiing or sailing has its own character. The coastline curves dramatically with coves and harbours. The north and northwest coast are protected by coral reefs. With hotels of such character as Jumby Bay (located on its own small island) and Curtain Bluff, it is possible to find something for everyone. Everyone is catered for. Antigua offers wide, safe beaches for families with all-inclusive accommodation perfect for children and teenagers. There are many activities including Stingray City, horse-riding, Caramaran cruising, scuba-diving, or even celebrity spotting! JK Rowling was inspired to pen a Harry Potter novel during a stay at Jumby Bay. Watersports are provided all around the Island, including diving, windsurfing and snorkelling around the coral reefs.
A new Rainforest Canopy Tour offers visitors a soft adventure option of flying through the forest on a zip wire, providing a bird’s eye view of Antigua’s natural vegetation – silk cotton trees, pineapple fields and banana fig trees.
