Both my husband and I had arrived feeling very tired and stressed. My husband had just had a replacement shoulder operation so was feeling very sore from surgery. We had both read the reviews of the hotel and were slightly worried at what we would find on our arrival. After a good flight over on BA we were met by the BB representative at BGI airport who checked us in with Liat and arranged for our bags to be collected and checked in. We then made our way to the gate for our flight across to the SVG.
On arrival in SVG we were met by the BB representative who directed us to the minibus for our final leg of our journey. On our transfer from the airport to the resort the driver told us a bit about the island. He was very friendly and informative.
On arrival at the resort we were met by members of the BB team with ice cold towels and cool drinks or either coconut water or rum punch. We were asked to complete the forms for check in requesting us to leave our CC details for a security deposit of $500 in case of any incidentals. Luckily we had brought them with us as it was an all-inclusive resort! Once the form filling had been completed we were escorted to our villa.
Our villa which was like a small bungalow, had a plunge pool and sun area, bathroom which had the most amazing shower in it and to finish it off nicely Molton brown products had been provided. Our bedroom was lovely with air conditioning and the bed was total luxury where comfort was assured. The lounge area did not have any air conditioning (shame as it did get very hot in there). Our plunge pool was a lovely relief to cool down and sit with a cool drink and reflect on the day.
We were lucky that there were three restaurants open when we stayed in Dec. These were the BBC, Bamboo and Saffran along with the sushi bar and HQ.
The breakfasts at Bamboo were lovely a vast choice or cereals, cooked foods, cold meats and fruit to choose from and always a smiley chef around to cook your eggs however you wanted them. Bamboo does not open for lunch apart from being able to order pizza which the staff would happily deliver to you on the beach, by the pool or to your villa again these were delicious. The evening buffets were very good, we had lobster twice which was lovely. There were perhaps a few too many Italian themed evenings for us - although Murphy did a great job with the pasta, as well as entertaining everyone with his cooking skills and wonderful laugh!
We enjoyed several lunches and dinners at the BBC my only complaint is that it is the same menu every day. They could certainly do with adding some more local dishes and perhaps having a two week rotating menu for those staying two weeks not to eat the same every night. (This was probably the only fault we could find) Andy and Helena made our evenings in the BBC they were so friendly and full of smiles they made you feel special and welcome. A big hearted thank you for helping make our experiences of BBC a very positive one
Saffran was very nice the food was delicious. Yes the menu is not vast but who needs more than a set selection of starters, main course and pudding. Starters were wonderful you are given a selection of all the starters to try (great way to try new tastes) followed by your choice of main with two side orders plus rice and then pudding again a selection of all the puddings on the menu for you to try. The staff were wonderful and could not do enough for you to ensure your experience with them was second to none.
Starting on a positive note, the staff are lovely, very friendly and really try their best to help you. The villas are very nice, grounds are well kept and resort is very clean and tidy.
HQ was great for ice cream, smoothies, coffees etc, and their banana cake was exceptional. Again the staff here are excellent with great friendly personalities.
We took two excursions which we found to be excellent, the Dark View Falls and The Sunset Cruise, which are well worth doing. Francesca came with us on the Dark View Falls as we were a little worried about going on this due to my husbands should operation she was very kind, caring and a true ambassador to BB.
We did have a small issue with some of my husband’s pain medication being taken but Debra and Cliff both dealt with this swiftly and professionally and within two hours of us reporting this they had managed to replace one of the items they also made arrangements for my husband to see the doctor to discuss any further requirements. This could happen anywhere in the world so would not say this is only related to BB resort. Thank you both for being so kind and helping sort this out so as not to spoil our well needed holiday.
Cliff was an absolute star he goes more than the extra mile for people we had been chatting to him and said we had not been outside of the resort so Cliff took us on a drive around some of the island showing us the glorious island of St Vincent and enabling us to take some fantastic photos and memories back to England.
Debra was lovely a true ambassador to BB although she had only just landed the week before us to start work, you would never guess this as she shone through with her wonderful friendly personality and professionalism a friend we hope to keep in touch with. We look forward to seeing the ideas she has to keep improving the resort (if this is possible).
To sum up we had a fantastic time and met fantastic people. We certainly came home feeling unstressed, and calm exactly what we had hoped and longed for. We would definitely recommend this resort and we hope to go back there again soon to see if anything has changed as long as they keep the personal touch.
Thank you BB for a truly wonderful holiday and one we will never forget.
